If your life was a television show, what would its theme song be? What music would be cued at the start of the show or when you entered a scene?
My theme song for 2011 would have to be "Firework" by Katy Perry. It was officially released in 2010, but because I am not listening to the radio that much, we don't have Cable TV (which means no Myx, MTV and Channel V), and whenever I go to YouTube I already have tunes in my head that I wanted to listen to, I got to hear this song just last year, thanks to my brother who told us that the music video was actually good. Hearing his remark, I quickly went to YouTube and watched the video.
Primarily, I connected to the song because it featured a chubby lady who is trying to hide herself because she wasn't confident, but she just took out her robe and jumped in the pool. I, too, am someone like that. I grew up as a wall flower... I didn't want to be in the crowd and I sometimes just keep quiet whenever there are people around.
"Baby you're a firework... come and show them what you're worth."
That's my favorite line in the song.
2011 was my year to finally start embracing myself and change myself for the better. I know it is a very tough road to travel, but at least I have taken the first step.
