Reconnecting Bridges

This week on Girls Talk, we talk about "Something Old." Well, I've set foot in Bohol after three years and I've visited Cebu after two years this year, but as much as my life is full of events this year, I seriously can't remember if I got to see old friends this year. Well, I might not get to see friends or people from the past this year, but this year, I learned to forgive.

Late 2010 when a friend of mine confessed that another friend name dropped me, which resulted in a not-so-good consequence. I was totally unaware of it, but of course I was hurt and I was angry. One time, I even posted a message saying something like, "Being nice doesn't mean being nice, I just know how to be civil." At that point I hoped to end the friendship, and I was okay about it...

...until I celebrated my birthday this year. My feelings have been hurt by so many people, but I was reminded of something - "Hate the sin, not the sinner." When she sent out birthday greetings through Facebook, I knew it was time to let the wound heal. I sent her a message explaining my side (I never really gave her the chance to speak her side, I just cut the friendship right there and then), and although we weren't as close as we used to be, it felt nice to finally forgive and move on. I may not forget what she did, but life sure is more fun and light without any grudges.

The picture above was taken in 2010 when we had a photo shoot at Eurotel Cubao with another friend of ours. We still haven't met personally again since that day, but I do hope to see her and catch up on stories... we do have so many things to talk about.
