The Look of Happiness

I may not update this blog with life stories everyday, but I don't stop living life to the fullest and at times, I was able to take pictures to make that moment immortal. Here are some of the images that brought happiness last week.

My Cats

The night I went back to sleep in my bedroom, my cat Orange-y (the cat at the bottommost part of the image above) slept next to me. The next day, the mother cat went to sleep on my bed, too, and the day after that, all four cats are now sleeping on my bed! During day time, they would sleep on my bed, and we always laugh at them because they looked as if they're staying at a hotel - we would wake them up when they're about to eat. Hahaha. This was one of the funniest image I took of them - I was surprised seeing them look like this (sleeping with a pattern), so I hurried to take the camera to snap a picture. Cuteness!

Cha Dao Tea Place

Last Tuesday, I was a bit sad that a cold hindered me to not attend a foodie event. I was happy, though, that I was still able to meet with my cousin and a friend the next day to sample drinks at Cha Dao Tea Place, using the GCs given by one of its owners. This picture was taken by Daryll and the woman on the right is my cousin Marjorie, whom I met at the blogging scene. Actually, meeting her was one of the sweetest blessings blogging has given me. She saw my name at a Facebook group, and since my surname and her middle name (her mom's surname before she got married) was the same, she sent me a message and from there we found out that our grandfathers were actually brothers. Anyway, this was a common practice being a food blogger - setting up the food for pictures before eating it. If you ask me out for a food trip, you really have to wait a wee bit longer before you can eat, because I take pictures of all the foods first.:)

Honey Soy Glazed Pork

We have a lot of culinary magazines and cookbooks here at home, giving us a lot of recipes to try. Every week, the family orders a kilo of pork belly, but when I started taking off the fat from my pork, mom thought buying pork belly would be a waste of money (since we buy it per kilo, regardless if it's lean or full of fat), so when she told us that this batch would be the last order, sister used the remaining uncooked strips of pork belly to cook a recipe she so wanted to try since then.

Although this picture didn't look good (as we weren't able to buy some veggies to color the plating), this tasted really good, actually. There were some lessons learned because of this recipe, and we were a bit certain we would want this at our Christmas lunch table, so all those lessons will be applied when we cook this again. Unfortunately though, sister cooked this one so this won't appear on our food blog (unless I cook the recipe using my own style).

Oh, if you're wondering, the dish is called Honey-Soy Glazed Pork.

Sandy Daza

Last Sunday, I attended the Lee Kum Kee 123rd Anniversary grand cooking demo with my sister. It was a very fun day for me because I got to be with food blogger friends, and at one point during the event, I got to sit with Chef Him Uy de Baron, the very first celebrity chef I had a picture with back in 2008. Back to the event, I was happy, too, that I got to answer one question at their Q&A game, and I received a goodie bag containing Lee Kum Kee sauces, apart from the goodie bag they gave to the food bloggers present at the event. The biggest highlight of the day was having a picture with chef Sandy Daza (picture above). Being the son of the renowned culinary icon Nora Daza, I grew up watching their cooking shows, and he is my favorite, favorite celebrity chef since then. Seeing him in person actually warmed my heart as I got to get in touch with my childhood, and after the event, I really asked my cousin to help me have a picture with him. After the photo op, he told me he will be having a cooking show in the future, something I am looking forward to watch.

Oh... one more happy moment during that event, when sister and I registered at booth, the PR company rep told me about their upcoming event (happening this Thursday). I told them I already received an invite for that event via e-mail, but since sister wasn't invited by e-mail, they gave her a ticket for the event (for free). One other person at the booth gave me another ticket, which I happily accepted because my brother really wanted to attend the event - even going through asking friends to like his post so he could attend it. Well, when I handed the ticket to brother, he was over the top happy, and I am happy because us three are going to the foodie event - a first time for us.

Happiness is truly everywhere, it's just up to you how you view things and events in your life. Stay happy!
