Day Six - Around Panglao and Dauis

Cebu - Bohol Trip Recap
Day Six: Around Panglao and Dauis
30 August 2011

Morning of this day, Ms. Claire's son and his girlfriend flew back to Manila, so basically we don't have anything planned. We were almost convinced that we would be staying at the resort the whole day, so I hoped to explore more of the resort just to maximize the day.

Mom hoped for the two of us to take a dip in the pool, and I actually packed my swimsuit, but for some reason, I became ashamed of wearing just the swimsuit, so I told mom I'd just stay in the room, but of course, I did take some pictures of her.

Sea Walking at Dumaluan Beach Resort

Around 9am, Ms. Claire's daughter Yeye and Ms. Nerie thought of us doing the Sea Walker adventure. Knowing it cost 750 pesos (approx 17.50USD) per person, I was pretty sure not to do it anymore. However, my dearest mother convinced me of doing it because it would be the kind of adventure that I might love and cherish... and she also reminded me of the very reason why I travel, "You'll regret the things you did NOT do that the things you did do." True enough, it was an adventure I'd forever cherish.

Going back to the shore, we were told Ms. Fe and her sister will pick us up after lunch for an afternoon of strolling around Panglao and Dauis. We quickly ate our lunch at the cheap food place near the resort and prepared for our afternoon trip.

Bohol Bee Farm

Bohol Bee Farm. Our first stop is the Bohol Bee Farm, which isn't really a bee farm "farm," but they do have two houses for the bees and that they provide a tour around the farm for 30 pesos per person. After reading a magazine feature sometime ago, I already "hoped"of seeing the place. One item on my wish list: checked!

Boyoyoy of Bohol

Bayoyoy. He was once considered the smallest man in the Philippines. At 64 years old, he looked like a young boy, and being featured in several TV shows, tourists come to visit him to say hello and have pictures taken. In return, tourists leave some donation, which the family uses to buy for his personal needs.

Dauis Church

Dauis Church. I already entered this church before, but the van passing by it, one of us requested if we could enter just so we could give thanks and pay our respect. Of course, I am happy about it because I was able to see the church with a new pair of eyes, and because of our visit, we were able to get some miraculous water.

update: I did find the water miraculous... I took home the water and while jogging, I was already panting and was way too tired, but when I drank a few gulps of the water, I felt very strong - panting gone.

The Yellow Python

Bingag Ostrich and More. It was a very small place showing some animals - leopard, ostrich, and yes, snakes. When the caretaker asked us if we wanted to touch the yellow python, I quickly showed interest. My first pictures with the snake didn't come out good, so I asked the caretaker if I can pose for pictures again. He asked me to carry the snake, which I happily did, but I got a little scared, too, when its tail started to curl around my legs.

Hinagdanan Cave. Another place on my wishlist. The cave was small, yes, but we did love the visit because our tour guide was so funny.

Panglao Church

Panglao Church. This wasn't really part of the itinerary, but Ms. Fe showed us the church's belfry, and because we were already there and that I hoped to see the church after I saw it from afar the day we arrived in Panglao, I told them I'd go inside the church to say my prayers.

Muro Ami Sea Side Inn

Muro-Ami Sea Side Inn. In 1999, a film about reef hunters entitled "Muro Ami" was released, and this beach gained popularity because this was were the film was shot. It was low tide when we visited, so we just took time to take pictures. I asked mom to do a jump shot, which prompted some of our companions to do a jump shot, too. That's my mom on the right most side... believe it or not, she will be 62 years old tomorrow. :)

Alona Tropical Beach Resort

Alona Tropical Beach Resort. If we didn't stay at the Dumaluan Beach Resort, we would have stayed here. True to what they say, the place was indeed tranquil, and if I return to Bohol, I sure hope to stay here.

Fire Dancer

The Fire Dancer. The Alona Tropical Beach Resort was indeed a quiet place, which can be a bit boring if I may say so, but the good side to it is that walking along the shore, it will take you to a strip of food places where you can hang out and enjoy the night life. It was in this area where we ate our dinner, so we won't have to eat at the resort anymore.

It was our last night in Bohol, and I was really happy that we were able to see these places.
