Tuesday Couch Potatoes | Grannies

This week's prompt for TCP is about "grannies." I had a quite difficult time thinking what my movie share would be (I even considered thinking about local movies), but I went with my first choice:

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005). When Willy Wonka decides to let five children into his chocolate factory, he decides to release five golden tickets in five separate chocolate bars, causing complete mayhem. The tickets start to be found, with the fifth going to a very special boy, called Charlie Bucket. With his Grandpa, Charlie joins the rest of the children to experience the most amazing factory ever. But not everything goes to plan within the factory. (Source - IMdB)

I already shared the "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" for TCP back then, but this is a different movie even if it shared the same story, so I guess this one's acceptable. :) Anyway, I loved the older version of the movie, and even if this one (the 2005 release) boasts of much better graphics and effects, somehow I found the 1971 release much magical than this one. If there's one thing I loved in this movie, it would have to be the oompa loompas!

Anyway, I chose this movie because I just loved Charlie's relationship with his grandparents (both from her mom and dad's side). I felt the love his grandparents gave him and how they took care of his broken spirits when he first found out his chocolate didn't have the golden ticket. I grew up away from my grandparents, and I only got to be with them during summer vacations (my paternal grandmother passed away when I turned a year old, so I really didn't know her), and somehow this movie made me wonder how it felt being loved by the grandparents. With few movies about grandparents, I just think all grandparents are the same - very loving and caring.
