Anyway, theme for this week is "Enchanted," something that is filled with magic and fantasy. I have already blogged about "The Neverending Story" and "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," so I decided to blog about a different movie, and my choice was this:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). There were many parts, and the whole story isn't finished yet, but among all the Harry Potter movies I have watched, my favorite is the very first one. Originally titled as "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," it was released in the USA and other parts of the world including here in the Philippines as "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." Why did I like this one the best among the other parts? Well, it was because it was through this movie that viewers got to know Harry Potter for the first time, and learning who he is and his mission in life, the many introductions and the wow factor of him entering a school for Wizards and the way things unravel will always be something magical for me. The next parts were all good, too, but I guess the "first part high" factor of this movie will always be that something special among all the Harry Potter movies.
A little trivia I learned through Wikipedia:
- Warner Brothers bought the rights to the book in 1999 for 1 million sterling pounds as reported.
- Rob Reiner and Steven Spielberg were among the choice of directors for this film, but it was Chris Columbus who was chosen in the end.
- It was the 8th highest grossing film of all time as of February 2011.
Did you like the Harry Potter movies? What's your favorite part?
