Food Trippin'

Sis and I

06 February 2011

It was through an online forum where I met Andrew. He told me it was primarily my camera that made him post a message in my thread (we both used a Canon Powershot A1000is point and shoot camera), and since then we would exchange messages about one particular topic: Food. From his food trip articles he posted in the forum, he now owns a blog. When he told me about it, I found out the width of his blog's posts were too small for the pictures he posted. He told he always post pictures at 600 resolution, so I asked him to trust me with his blog password and I'd fix the width of it. Some five minutes later, it was already okay.

Coincidentally, we already planned of doing a food trip (with other foodie friends) the next weekend, so he said he will just send his gratitude by shouldering the food trip. If that wasn't enough yet, he also asked me to tag my sister along. Wow. :)

Pino Resto Bar

We all met up in the corner of East Avenue and V.Luna before going to the restaurant of "my" choice. I wanted to eat at a restaurant called "Van Gogh is Bipolar" located along Maginhawa Street in Teachers Village, but for some weird reason, no once can find it. We were certainly at the correct address, yet according to our companions, they already asked people around and no one seemed to know about it. Could it be "Van Gogh" has checked "himself" in a psych ward?

Anyway, Andrew suggested we eat at Pino Resto Bar instead, located at Malingap Street. Andrew has already eaten there before, and he was the one who recommended it.

Mini Sisig Tacos by Pino Resto Bar

We were eight people in the food trip, so we had so many foods in the table. We actually had two courses - we went for a group of foods first, and after eating it all (except for one dish that we all didn't seem to like much), we asked for the menu again. Among the foods we had, my favorite would have to be this - the Mini Sisig Tacos. It sure looked like a regular taquito, but the meat filling wasn't beef, but sisig - a Filipino dish made from pig's cheeks and ears. It was a great way of combining Filipino and Mexican... and it was really delicious.

Chocolat - Sgt. Esguerra Chocolat

After dinner, there were talks about eating desserts, and Karl suggested we eat desserts elsewhere. Several dessert places were brought up, and in the end we went to Chocolat, located along Sgt. Esguerra. All of us (except Andrew) had a slice of cake each, and all of us had a cup of chocolate made from chocolate tablets. It was a great way to cap off a good food trip, and I was really thankful and happy I got to meet them in person.

There are now talks about where our next food trip will be, and I am already excited about that.
