All About Me: Day 15 - 17

It's been a while since I last updated my "All About Me," but as I check my notes, I decided to just update this meme every Saturday, making weekends in this blog devoted to just me. :) Quite a lot of items to catch up, but for now, I will just do three days.

#15 - My Dream House

It was through the game "The Sims" that I started creating a character based on my own character and manipulate it the way I want my life to run. Part of playing the game is to design a house, and thankful for a very old (1997) magazine containing lots of home plans, I also took delight in copying the look from the magazine onto my game. The house plan I always do?

...this. I just love having a house that's not square or rectangle. Well, the fireplace in the picture isn't part of the "dream house," for it's not applicable here, but I really loved the design of this house. I told myself, if I could have this house (even without the second floor), it would be a dream come true.

Now, if I could have a house like that in the countryside - with a body of water nearby (a lake, lagoon, river, or a beach)... and a little land where I could plant some vegetables and have some livestock, I'd be in heaven.

I know a house is just a house... and digging deep, it's the people inside that makes a house a home; and right now, living in our current house is more than enough for me, but of course I do know, too, that dreams are made to inspire people to do things. I would be happy if I could make this dream come true, but if I can't, I will be fine, too - somehow, through "The Sims," I was able to get my dream house. :)

# 16 - A Song that Made Me Cry (or Nearly)

A few years back, there was a TVC that featured this song, and my late father quickly quipped, "Great song, eh?" It was the first time I heard the song, and analyzing the lyrics, plus the message of the TVC, I cried. The song was composed by George Canseco and was first sung by the singer Kuh Ledesma. The version in the You Tube video was a version by Sarah Geronimo. I picked to post this video because it already had the lyrics printed. It's in Filipino, but the lines that struck me the most was,

"Paano kita mapasasalamatan? Sapat na ba ang mahalin lang kita magpakailan pa man?"
"How can I thank you? Is it enough for me to just love you forevermore?"

Truly, this song is dedicated to the parents. I know I haven't been a good daughter - I still haven't provided much in my own family, and really, I cannot give my parents the sun, moon, and the stars. All I can really do is to love them and keep them in my heart.

My dad died in 2007. He will always be in my heart... and of course, this song also goes out to my mom, brother, and sister. My unconditional love for my family is something I will always give.

#17 - An Art Piece

It was September 2006 when I created my very first 12x12 paper scrapbook layout. I have always been into crafts and I have done quite a lot of scrappy pages since I could remember, but it was in 2006 when I met a woman from here in the Philippines who was really into scrapbooking. Through her I learned that a scrapbook album is way different from the magnetic photo albums widely available here. Through her, I have learned the ins and outs of scrapbooking, and I also was able to make friends with Filipinas who are scrapbookers as well (surprisingly, there is a scrapbooking circle here in the Philippines, and some of them have also made a name in the international scrapbooking scene).

I consider scrapbooking an art. Putting together pieces of photos, papers, and embellishments... as well as writing the journaling in each layout isn't an easy thing to do. I for one have to plan each layout because I didn't have much materials. Any picture can be used in a scrapbook layout, but now, the art of photography is already involved in the process.

This layout was done in 2008, as my entry to a contest. We were given a sketch to follow, and this is how I interpreted it. The border in the focal picture was stitched using metallic thread, and the letters to the title ("Avatar Photoshoot") was hand cut one by one. I am not as good as my scrappy friends, but I am proud of what I can do.
