Change #3 - No to Junk Foods

Recap...
  • Week 1 - No Rice: a failure, but I could say I am trying to eat less of it now.
  • Week 2 - Stay Away From Soda Pops: a success! Even if at times I am tempted to take a sip from brother's glass, I am very happy to say that I haven't had a drop of soda pop in my body for a week now. Hooray!
Food is one of my biggest "enemy," so this week is still food related:

3rd Change - No to Junk Foods!

295/365 - Chiz Curlz

Big Mama

At age 9, I was diagnosed with a very bad case of Urinary Tract Infection, and the only thing to blame were the salty junk foods I loved to eat. Whenever my parents (or any older relatives, or if I sold some recyclables to the neighborhood junk collectors) give me some money, I would buy some junk foods to snack on. Even as I grow old, junk foods have been part of my life, that even if my UTI didn't come back after it was healed, I still wanted to change the way I snack.

I guess a big wake up call for me was that my sister's having UTI now, and although her case was a much milder one, hers will heal and will come back after sometime. Her sickness wasn't caused my junk foods (it's more of not drinking water and not going to the toilet as soon as her body needs to), but I don't want to go through the pain again, so this is something I need to enforce.

This change is quite timely, actually, because this weekend mom and I will be out of town - going to Zoobic Safari with her office mates, and a few days after, I will travel up north for 3 to 4 days. During long road travels, I always rely to junk foods to "keep me company," so this is the best week to enforce this. Aside from the fear of UTI, junk foods are either packed with lots of sodium and sugar, and that would be bad for me. Just yesterday, while we were doing the grocery shopping, my sister asked me if I would buy some junk foods. I told her "no," because if I buy even just a pack, I would sure eat it, so the best way to deal with this is just not buy one in the first place.

I guess as long as our house is junk food free, this change will be easy.

...although I really hope to eat those jalepeno flavored chips. Dang! Well, sorry, I now made a commitment.
