02 January, my high school buddies Maicks and Liza (with their daughters) visited me. Liza and I were communicating often, I even attended Alia's field day, but Maicks was always busy, and it was so funny that the last time I saw her was in 2008, and the last time I saw her daughter Chesca was when she was still a tiny baby. It was great being with them again.
I cooked spaghetti carbonara for them, which was a big hit for Alia... she even asked me to pack some for her so she could take it home. :) Alia's just five years old, but she and I were really close - we rarely see each other, but I could really tell she loves me a lot.
Both of the little girls are actually my goddaughters, and I gave them a doll each. They opened the gifts right away and played with it, and even if the two kids were adjusting to each other, they were still able to play, while their moms and I talked about things about life and their "relationship" to the kids' fathers. It was sad to hear their stories about being single moms, but seeing how they brought up their daughters in a good way made me realize it doesn't really take a mother and a father to raise a kid. Sometimes, even just one is enough.
Maicks and Chesca left early as they still have to buy medicines for Chesca's asthma, but Liza and Alia stayed until 6PM. Alia and I played games, and I also let her use my camera. Even with little hands, she was able to take care of my camera. A sigh of relief. Hehehehe. I gave her some educational toys to help her read, as well as some stickers because she saw some stickers on our electric fan and asked if I still have unused stickers. One of the good things I love about this girl was that she speaks her mind.
Both kids will celebrate their birthdays this coming March - Alia will be six, Chesca will be three - and hopefully their moms would have even just a small party so I could attend. It was indeed great seeing my friends again, but I am starting to miss our other friend Jobi, who's in Saudi Arabia now. She actually was in the Philippines last October, but she didn't contact any one of us. Sad.
Thanks for the visit, Maicks and Liza! See you again soon!

It's nice to visit friends -- I too have a couple of friends who visited us with their kids.
Happy New Year, Jenn!
