Cake Overload

Cake Testers

Cakes Galore

Months ago when Ela resigned being a professor at a college, she said what she wanted to do was to order a slice each of all the cakes and eat it in one seating. It was shocking and at the same time interesting to do.

Ela suggested we do it after the videoke, and I said, "why not?" So off we went to Red Ribbon and ordered the cakes. Actually on that day, what Ela wanted to do was for us to bond and give me something to blog about. Yeah, I have a very sweet friend. :)

I didn't like it that Red Ribbon didn't have all the cakes available as slices. Before, people can basically order whatever cake flavor without having to buy the whole cake. Now, only selected cakes are available for slices. Red Ribbon has so many cakes available, but we only got to taste six - Marjolaine, Chocolate Mousse, Dulce de Leche, Smores, ChocNut Roll, and Mango Roll. Ela loved the Smores (I didn't), and I loved the ChocNut Roll (and she didn't). But both of us thought the Marjolaine tasted the best.

Six slices of cakes eaten by two women may seem a little bizarre, but it did allow us to have a heart to heart talk. We got to talk about family, friends, finances, and love life. Although we were batchmates at Singles for Christ, we were never really group mates, and in different SFC gatherings she and I never really had the chance to be group mates, so this was the very first time she and I got to discuss things that are close to the heart. Telling her about my low self esteem and lack of confidence was a bit difficult to tell, but telling her bits and pieces of my personal life was refreshing. It's great to speak out about things and in return getting opinions, advices and criticisms that would help overcome it.

I am still a work in progress, but admitting certain things was a good first step. Super duper thanks a lot, Ela dear. I love you.
