Beatles Day

Our Weekend Memoirs

Beatlemaniacs

"Let it Be"

"Blackbird"

After attending our newest godson's baptism, Ela and I went to the mall to have some bonding. While at the baptism's reception, we got to talk about the Beatles - four of us there were actually fans - and we thought of doing videoke a la the Beatles. So many plans were made as to how we will spend the time, but we stuck with the videoke one.

For every 10 tokens we got 1 more, so Ela and I not only got to pick 20 songs, we have to pick 22. At first it was quite difficult looking for songs (the song book was way nearing its end and some pages were missing). We took a turn each, and if my memory serves me correctly, we sang:

  1. Blackbird
  2. Let it Be
  3. Imagine (by John Lennon)
  4. Paperback Writer
  5. All You Need is Love
  6. With a Little Help From My Friends
  7. In My Life
  8. Yesterday
  9. Hey Jude
  10. Strawberry Fields Forever
  11. I Have Seen a Face
  12. Across the Universe
  13. Ticket to Ride
  14. I Wanna Hold Your Hand
  15. Here, There, and Everywhere
  16. Dear Prudence
  17. We Can Work it Out
  18. Come Together
  19. Yellow Submarine
I cannot recall the three more... but what's funny was that we were so ready to sing "Come Together" to the point that we were getting into the "rock mode on," and when we keyed in the numbers, the song that came out was "Handyman" by James Taylor. At first we thought maybe we put on the wrong numbers, but on the upper side of the TV it says that the song playing was "Come Together." It kinda ruined the Beatles mode, but still, we sang the song.

Last song of the day was "Yellow Submarine," quite a funny song - we were talking about the Beatles having double meaning songs, some even deep and symbolical... and you have the "Yellow Submarine," making us question if the Beatles really wrote the song. Hahahaha. Whether there were doubts if they did write the song or not (okay, we do believe they wrote it, we were just being sarcastic) - we sang it with much gusto, with matching head bounce.

Twenty two songs may not be enough considering there are so many Beatles songs, but it was really a fun, fun day. It was my first time to do a thematic videoke singing, and my first videoke session with Ela, and I seriously hope we could do this again.

ps - the day after, I realized it was timely thing to do a Beatles' videoke day, for that day was John Lennon's 29th death anniversary.

I hope someday you'd join us, and the world will be as one."
