Before my sister and I left for La Union, I got to see a link in Willa's Facebook about Pixel Bug Weekend meme... and thought of joining, too! =)

Manaoag Church

Wednesday, 28th of October - We woke up earlier than the usual because we will travel to Manaoag, Pangasinan to visit the church. Our Aunt Julie is a devotee, and since she was about to face a panel of interviewers for a chance to be promoted to Senior Nurse, she already set this date to visit the church and pray to Our Lady of Manaoag. Since sister and I were already there, of course, we tagged ourselves.

It was my second time to visit the church this year (I was here with Aunt, too, last May), and it was the first for my sister. She was actually very happy that this trip was set because the only chance my sister had of seeing this church was that short glance from the window two days before while traveling to La Union from Manila.

We were sad about what happened to the bridge connecting Pangasinan and La Union, but we were also a bit thankful for the detour. Because of it, we no longer had to be dropped off in the town of Binalonan and take a jeepney to the church. Now, we can be asked to be dropped very near the church. Aunt did save some money for the fare, and because of it she treated us for some snacks in Chowking.

It was a brief stay in the church. We offered masses for the dead and some candles for our personal petitions, and of course we did attend the mass as well. Aunt still had to review for her upcoming deliberation, so after eating lunch at the church grounds, we took the bus home.

Halo - Halo sa Palengke

Thursday was Market Day in the town, but sister woke up late so even if we went to the market to have some pictures taken, I could still say we were able to enjoy the stroll - seeing lots of produce and eating halo-halo in one of the food stalls. It has been a simple tradition for us to eat there. The halo-halo was simple, but it was nice to eat... still delicious. =) We planned to go back to eat their pancit palabok, or their version of the Wendy's salad (macaroni with some gelatin and cheese) if we still have time for it.

Lunch time, our Uncle Caesar with his grandson arrived. I really don't know the reason for their visit - he wasn't really that visible since then (though I was able to see him last May), maybe he would also be there for the undas.

I am a person who could understand simple Ilocano sentences, and I could say I could speak some as well, but the only place where I got to exercise my Ilocano speaking skills was whenever I am in the marketplace - a chance for me to haggle with the sellers, but because John Vince (the grandson) cannot really speak and understand Tagalog, he was really able to make me speak up some Ilocano words. It was funny, really, but I enjoyed it. However, I am still not that confident to converse with any of my relatives in Ilocano.

It was a great day.... well, of course it was also because we were able to continue with the Grey's Anatomy marathon.

I visited La Union but it was a long time ago and never been to Pangansinan either, Hopefully I can visit it in the future.
I envy your life, you are always on the road travelling and see great places after places. In the future there's no doubt you can be one of those "Citizen of the world". :)
