Still Life?

PhotoStory Friday

I am one of the people who took part of Project 365 - a project wherein people take one picture a day, and share those images through their blogs, or through Flickr or somewhere. I share my everyday images in My Own Project 365 blog, as well as in the Shutterbugs Multiply group which I belong to. It has been a very nice way to practice photography, but at times I would encounter a hurdle and post a totally hideous image. But of course, we gotta love our own, so no matter how bad my shots are, I love it all.

On Day 103 (13 April 2009), I was eating dinner with my family when I realized I still don't have my photo for the day! At that time my mom was eating some sinigwelas fruits (Spanish Plum - scientific name: Spondias purpurea L) and brother just said that I should just take pictures of the fruits. Oh-kay, I asked mom to stop eating and let me take pictures of it first. My mom has been very supportive, and decided to just eat a different kind of fruit.

At first I didn't know how will I photograph the fruits - I started with taking pictures of it as they looked like in the bowl, but as I think how to present it, I was able to see a water goblet. My dear friend Halie (also part of the shutterbugs project 365) took some still life images of her vase filled with jelly like balls, and seeing the goblet made me want to take inspiration from her shots.

I had difficulties in taking pictures of the fruits because of the lighting. I had to make use of the lights in the house, and sometimes the light would reflect in the glass, or my hand (and the camera) would add some shadows - unnecessary ones at that! If I were to take these pictures on daytime, it would have been much better, but it was the only time I had, so I just have to make use of what's presently there.

Not really great photos, but I am happy with the outcome.
