Short Notice

06 April 2009

April 9th is "Araw ng Kagitingan" and is a national holiday, but because it would fall on Maundy Thursday, the government decided to move the holiday to Monday. We weren't able to do grocery shopping the day before, so us three girls (mom, sis, and I) went to the mall on this day.

When we got home, I did the usual things I do - blogging, chatting, etc. I then realized that I still haven't charged my cell phone, so I charged it. After an hour and a half, I turned on the phone and series of messages came in, one was from Ela, sent in at 11AM asking if I could come at their place at 4PM for a music ministry practice. It was already 4:30PM that time, and good thing Ela just live two streets away from us, so I hurriedly changed clothes. Fifteen minutes later, there were knocks on our gate - the boys were fetching me! How touching!

We practiced three main songs for next CLP week, and we also touched some new songs that we would sing for the succeeding weeks. At 8PM, we decided to make one pass of the songs that would also serve as our collective prayer time. Arnel led the prayers, and after each songs, we would speak our praises (2 songs), then after the third song we would say our contrition, after fourth song we would say our gratitude, and after the fifth song we would say our petitions. It was like attending a prayer meeting only that the prayers were spoken simultaneously (either in silence or through whispers). It was a very uplifting moment, and a great way to start the Holy Week.

They all walked me home after the prayers. Some of us would meet on Good Friday for a walk, and I am excited for that!

ps - there was a very wacky and funny intermission they did while on a break - I was able to capture it in video using my cell phone, but I still haven't asked the permissions of the people involved in the video if it was okay for me to put it in public. Will post it next time should they allow it.
