Photowalking with My Sister

09 April 2009

My sister slept early on Wednesday night and woke up late on Thursday morning. She was practically in the bed the whole day and only got up to pee, drink water, and grabbed something to eat. She was feeling way too lazy on Thursday, that she asked if I would be willing enough to go out with her, just so the sun could touch our skins. Since I was staying inside the house, I thought it was a good suggestion, so we went out.

We just planned on going to the market and eat snacks. Because I am a person who rarely leaves the house without the camera, I figured this would be a good time to take some pictures.

I asked sister if we could pass by the chapel and see if there were people saying the "pabasa." Sadly, the chapel was closed and all Holy Week activities were transferred to the parish church (the chapel in our neighborhood is just a sub-parish). While sister was reading the schedule posted by the door, I went to shoot this bell tower. Quite a small bell, yes, but we can hear its sound in our house.

Maudy Thursday 'til Black Saturday were the days of the Holy Week where people were mostly busy going to churches or saying their prayers at home. Because of that, very few vendors were selling at the market, so sister and I took the jeepney ride to the market at the neighboring province. I went to visit their church just to say some prayers, then my sister and I carried on. She was able to buy her snacks, and when it was time to go home, I asked if it would be just okay with her for us to walk back home. It would be a long walk, but because many people were walking, she agreed with me.

Walking back home wasn't really a tough thing to do because many people were doing the same. There was a church in this place where people visit every Holy Week, and the devotees would walk from their home going to the church. When I was younger, we would always do that, but when the children of the church owner took over the area, they changed it from Catholic to Independent Church (Aglipayan) and the Catholic Church no longer recognize it as its own. Still, there were devotees who would go the place as part of their personal ritual.

Anyway, the walk back home presented some chances for sister and I to take some pictures:

One side of the road was still a rain forest looking kind of place, and the sunset just gave it a very nice touch. The sun set on the other side - which was blocked by the busy part of the place, so no sunset shot for us, just a capture of the colors changing from white to orange.

I am not sure if this was a house or an office, but it got us interested because it had the look and the colors of the Philippine flag. Very patriotic owner, I must say!

When sister and I reached the border of the province and the city where we live in, the day bid goodbye. We were both amazed and shocked to see a very full moon that time, and because there was an open land and the road was a bit elevated, it was a nice chance to do some sky watching. =) This area is being developed, and in a few years time, this would turn into a neighborhood.

It had been a nice time for my sister and I. Sure, we were tired, but we got something from it, so overall, we both had fun.

Happy Easter!
