Of Food Trips and Walk Trips

28 March 2009

I was happily tapping the keyboards writing my blog entry when I received a text message from Ferj at 10AM saying, "See you at the Circular Church at 12NN." Wow... talk about short notice! It was a good thing that UP Diliman was more or less just an hour ride away from our house, and as soon as I sent my response saying I will be there, I hurriedly fixed myself and off I went.

I came to know Ferj through the forum and exactly a month before, we met personally at the Baguio Panagbenga Festival. Anyway, the week before this day, there has been a talk in the forum about a meet up either in UP Diliman or doing a church hop in Manila City. I was not really part of their group, so I wasn't expecting to receive an invitation from Ferj. I actually have sent a message over his room in the forum saying, "Whatever your plan is this weekend, have fun." Not knowing I would be part of that weekend. =)

Anyway, Ferj and Kei were already there when I arrived. It was my first time to meet Kei, and it was so fortunate that after the hi and hello, she and I were like lifelong friends. Well, some of the topics I cannot relate, but these two people were so accomodating! We were waiting for Ryan, who was enrolling in the university for his masters, but hungry tummies were complaining already, so the three of us just went on our way.

We went to Mang Jimmy's for lunch. Ferj, being a UP Diliman alumnus knew about the place and him being there again really did bring up memories. We ordered sizzling blue marlin, sizzling tuna, and sizzling tapa mix. The waitress said since we ordered three foods already, we can have one dish free. Since it's all sizzling, we had the bulalo! Yum!

It was a very great lunch! I loved the sizzling blue marlin the most, but Kei and I loved the jelly like thing in the beef bones more. Hahahaha! Obviously, in between eating and chatting, Ferj and I took pictures. I kinda like the idea of "photographing the photographer," so I didn't miss taking a picture of Ferj. =) By the way, Ferj took care of lunch today. Thanks, brother!

We met up with Ryan after lunch and the four of us went to Chocolate Kiss for desserts. I wanted to have the Devil's Food Cake, but there was one slice left (which Kei had), so I had the Kahlua Cake instead. I still loved the Devil's Food Cake, but I liked my cake, too!

The four of us walked and walked around the university and here are three of my shots:

Testing the depth of field. There was this crucifix at the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice made out of wood that seemed to be eaten by termites. I don't know if it was Kei or Ferj who put the plumeria flower, but it proved to be a good embellishment for the wood.

Also located at the same parish is this rock formation. I forgot the exact name of this spot - something to do about love and friendship... and it took a while before Kei and Ryan realized it was a maze.

Another shot of the UP Diliman road.

Ferj was planning to do a Laguna road trip after the Holy Week or when there will be an available car for us. Kei was hoping to do a church hop. I am looking forward to seeing them again, regardless if it would be the road trip or the church hop, I am just excited and hopeful to be seeing them again. Erick was right, the October Coron trip was still far away and before that time comes I was already able to see the people who will take part of the trip. Meeting Ryan and Kei for the first made me more eager for October to come.

Thanks for the great time, Ferj, Kei and Ryan! See you again soon.
