My First Shot at Portraiture

When my siblings and I went to Fort Santiago, I don't know what came into my mind that I just asked my sister if she could pose for me. I have been interested in photography and doing my little efforts to improve how I take pictures - for my scrapbooking and blogging sake - but somehow, I am weakest at doing portraiture. Maybe it was because I am not really used in taking pictures of people, or maybe the fact that I cannot pose good enough in front of the camera has affected how I am behind the camera.

My sister was a trooper that time and happily cooperated with me. Here are our efforts:

I wanted to get as much detail of the place, but I lacked the height, so this was a "faith" shot - I extended my arm and shoot without any clear vision of what's on the screen, leaving it up to faith hoping that this was a good shot.

There was a golf tournament that day, so it cannot be avoided that people would pass by the end of the tunnel. Anyway, I wanted to try a shot wherein the camera is just next to the wall, but as you can see, I had a hard time.

Brother was waiting outside so we had to rush it. Based on a comment made by our neighbor Charo (who saw this image on my sister's Friendster page), I realized I should've captured my sister's whole body. Thanks for the comment, 'te Cha!

Just a fun shot, nothing fancy.

Delilah becoming Samson? Hehehe... I just love how the lace of my sister's brassier looked like.

My favorite shot. I saw my sister go up the wall, and taking into consideration my friend's Erick's comment, "How can you shoot a city nightscape if you're afraid of heights?" I figured I gotta swallow some of that acrophobia. My efforts didn't put to waste, I think. =)

I know I still have a lot to learn, but all of us start from somewhere, right? Comments and constructive criticisms are always welcome... I am all ears.

To my sister - thanks a lot for posing for me. Mwah mwah! Love ya!
