With the Kids

Over at my travel blog - Jenn Was Here, I am currently blogging about the places I have visited on October 23, 2008. Yeah, I know it's way behind the time line, but I really don't want to squeeze all the places I visited to just one day because each places I visited is special in its own way, and I wanted to give its own space. Anyway, something very funny and nice happened on that day that I cannot really put in my travel blog, so I will just put it here. Please allow me to rewind for about three months, I just can't help not to post this one.

Anyway, I arrived in Bacnotan at around 4:45PM, after a day of roaming around the town of Balaoan and the city of San Fernando. The sun was still up, so I decided to just walk from the highway to our house, after all, my feet weren't that tired yet.

I passed by the plaza because I was told that there was a basketball league going on every late afternoon and night time, and that would mean street foods and arcades outside the plaza. I saw that the fountain was still on, so even if there were kids around the fountain, I set up the tripod, sat on on the grass and smiled for a snapshot. When I checked the image, the kids flocked behind me to check the image as well! I don't know them, they don't know me, yet it seems as if we were all close!

They were asking for another shot, so okay, I set the camera again. I was still checking the screen and already, all of them were ready for the shot! Wow.

Kids

... see? It looks as if I was intruding their shot! =) Well, the kids loved the picture and asked me for one more, so okay.

Kids

It was a great time being with the kids, that although I don't know them, it felt as if I had friends for even just a few minutes.

Whenever I take a look at these photos, I cannot help but smile and laugh at the same time. After this day, whenever I walk around the plaza while I was in La Union, they would smile and wave at me. And I am touched.

A journal of your life is so important. As we get older we forget things and stories that our children would really enjoy knowing and hearing about. I love what you are doing. You are writing your own history book.
